Work Environment
Opened in January, 2017, The ARK at JFK is a world premier animal reception cargo terminal operation and the first USDA-approved, full-service 24-hour privately owned airport quarantine facility for the import and export of horses, pets, birds, exotic animals and livestock travelling by air to, from and through John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
This comprehensive multi-purpose animal handling and air cargo facility at JFK comprises approximately 168,000 s.f. located in Cargo Area D directly on the secure Airport Operations Area (“AOA”). In addition to ARK IEC, the facility houses the operations of Worldwide Freight Services (“WFS”), an airport centered urgent health care and rehabilitation operation, and office space for cargo/freight forwarding companies. Racebrook Capital, a Manhattan-based firm, developed, financed and constructed the facility – the first new cargo building construction at JFK since 9/11 through its affiliate, ARK Development. ARK Development manages the real estate and leasing operations; ARK IEC operates the AVI cargo and quarantine enterprise.
